Alkoomi Adventure Farm & Campground - 40km South of Rockhampton

I loved the look of Alkoomi Adventure Farm and Campground as soon as I found out about it when it was recommended as a cheap spot to stay for families.  It's a max of $40 per night for the whole family (cheaper if there are just 3 of you - check on contact).

It is more like an all round great experience than a place to stay!  With...free animal feeding for families every afternoon, free BBQs, free firewood & communal campfire AND free wagon/trailer rides.   The really love giving the children the chance to run around get dirty & just be kids, away from the mobile devices & technology. (I second that!!)

"We had the most amazing weekend the kids had a ball and the owners went above and beyond to ensure the children were having a ball. Highly highly highly recommend going here we will be back for sure. We got home yesterday and the kids were already asking to go back, Haha!"  - Review on their Facebook page.

They have lots of other activities there, so check them out and support them supporting you. TAWK Members will also get a 10% discount on them.

Bloomfield Cabins and Camping - FNQ NOT OPEN TO TOURISTS ATM DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER IMPACT

bloomfield-logo

We are very excited to let you know about Bloomfield Cabins and Camping, located in Far North Queensland.  Owner, Kat and Yogi approached us to join our TAWKer Supporter program and would like to offer 2 night's FREE camping for TAWK Member's kids ALL year round! They truly welcome travelling families and we think you are going to love it here!  There is a lot to do in the area and you just might stay a while!

Situated at the northern end of the famous Bloomfield track (currently 4wd) in the little township of Ayton on the Bloomfield River, Ayton is also just 1 hour south of Cooktown on a sealed highway. Bloomfield Cabins and Camping is on 10 acres including 5 acres of spectacular lush rain forest.

There are shady powered as well as unpowered sites and the camping area is close to the beautiful Weary Bay, and just a stones throw from the Bloomfield River. The Roaring Meg Falls, high up in the Ranges makes a great outing and a great spot for a swim.

Fishing in both the ocean and river is great for people with or without boats. There is an excellent concrete boat ramp on the river or just fish off the river bank or river mouth for some great catches.

The Great Barrier Reef is offshore from the mouth of the Bloomfield River. Hope Island is a close, popular destination with great snorkeling.

Seriously, just ask Kat and Yogi about the area and they will ensure you make the most of your time here.

Put Bloomfield Cabins and Camping on your must stay list when in FNQ and support them supporting you.

Daintree Siesta

daintree-siesta

You never know where TAWKing will take you!  Some of our TAWKers end up working in caravan parks during or at the end of their travels.  The good news is for all of you! These TAWKers encourage their park to the TAWKer Supporter Program as they know the benefits to parks as our TAWK members support them on their trip around Australia.

This is what happened here and Daintree Siesta (formerly Lync-Haven Rainforest Accommodation) is now owned and run by some previous TAWKers and now they would like to offer TAWK Members 2 night's free camping* for their kids.

Daintree Siesta is on the north side of the Daintree River (yes – you get to cross the car ferry to get here!) near Cape Tribulation in the Daintree Rainforest, the oldest living rainforest in the world.

This cosy caravan park is set amongst beautiful tropical rainforest surrounds with its own walking trails on site. Cassowaries, Spectacled Flying Foxes and a range of other animals call Daintree Siesta home. This is a great chance to digital detox as there is limited mobile reception and no wi-fi (although you can pop up to Cape Tribulation if you need access). Van storage is available if you would like to be van-free on your way to the Tip or up the Bloomfield Track.

Daintree Siesta is located in close proximity to a number of beaches (where the rainforest and beach meet), the Daintree Discovery Centre, free National Park boardwalks, Horse Trail Rides, Ocean Safari snorkelling at the reef (only 30 minutes by boat), indigenous tours, river floating and a mangrove croc spotting tour. The owners are happy to help you book these activities.

So put them on your must stay list and support them supporting you.  Grab your TAWK Membership Card and save!
