Best 4x4 for 3 kids

Hi,

We are looking at choosing a car for a trip around Oz but also one that will suit family life at home. We do not live in a built up area and regularly need to tow a float. We have not yet bought a caravan either and not exactly sure what to get.

We are a family of 5, our kids are 8, 6 and 3 so potentially still 3 car seats/boosters. Obviously we want something reliable and one that is not too hard to find parts for when on the road.

Our budget is not huge (30k or under). We would definitely be wanting something second hand so an older car would be fine. Any advice on good cars for the road or ones to avoid would be much appreciated.

See if you can get a diesel 100 series Landcruiser. You wont get a y62 patrol or 200 series Landcruiser for $30k or under, especially since the Covid car tax is still around.

If you can wait a while, maybe the price of cars will settle or come down again.

We have a Y62 Nissan Patrol and absolutely love it. It’s the best car we’ve ever had. We tow regularly with no issues.

We live rural but visit suburbia daily and it transitions well between both. Huge amount of cargo space and plenty of backseat room for three across.

Our next car will be another Patrol; but not for a while yet as this one just keeps going!
