Direction to travel and type of car best to tow caravan

Hi, I have a couple of questions,

We will be leaving Dubbo at the start of 2022, what is best direction to travel in? We aren't setting a time limit on the trip so we won't be in a rush to get certain places.

Also, are there any specific things we should do to our car before we go? We will be travelling with a caravan.
